Runway Show

Saturday June 5, 2010
7 pm

On Saturday June 5, we will host an informal runway show in the Textile Center's Auditorium, where you can show off your wearable art creations and have an opportunity to network with other artists. "Informal" means that it all happens that night. Complete a description form for your garment, take your place in the line up and then take the stage while our emcee tells the audience about what you are wearing. After you have left the runway, mix and mingle and enjoy light refreshments. To participate in the runway show, you must be registered for the symposium. Please check the box on your registration form to participate.

The Runway Show will be open to the public. Tickets $5 at the door. Free admission to those registered for the Symposium.

How to participate:
  • Check the box on your registration form that indicates you would like to participate in the show.
  • Bring a garment that you would like to model with you to the Symposium.
  • Come on Saturday June 5 at 7 pm ready to model your garment. The seminar sessions end at 3:30 pm on Saturday, so you have plenty of time to get ready.
  • Complete a garment description form to give to the emcee.
  • Take your place in the line-up. The runway show will be ongoing, so you can step in to the line-up at any time. If you don't want to model your own work, you are welcome to bring a model with you.
  • When it's your turn to take the stage, hand your description to the emcee and then get ready to strut your stuff! We will have a small runway set up, surrounded by chairs for the audience to view the show. There will be lights and music to provide a little atmosphere as the emcee reads all about your piece.
  • When you have left the stage, enjoy drinks and light refreshements. This is your opportunity to show off your wearable art in person to attendees. Network, chat, mingle and enjoy!
Things to note:
You must be registered for the conference to participate in the show. If you bring a model who is not a conference attendee, that person will need to purchase a ticket to attend. Tickets are $5.

The Runway Show will be open to the public.

A small number of dressing rooms will be available.

Participants are encouraged to bring business cards, postcards or other materials to distribute. Please take extra printed materials with you at the end of the evening.
