FAQ:
Q: If I sign up for a morning and afternoon session, will there be supervision over lunch?
A: Yes! Please bring a lunch and a book to read or something to do. A teacher will be in the room to supervise.

Q: Are there scholarships available?
A: Yes. We do have partial scholarships available. Please contact Becka for more information.

Q: I am a working parent. Can I drop my child off early so I can get to work on time?
A: We request that you do not drop your child off before 8:40 for morning classes or 12:40 for afternoon classes. We do not have staff available to supervise children before these times.

Q: I can't get there at 4 to pick up my child. What can I do?
A: Check out our new Knitting Club! It goes from 4 - 5:30 every day that we have camps. You can sign up for a day or the whole week. You can work on a knitting project or if you don't like to knit, we will have some textile activity for you to try new each week. We suggest that you bring a drink/snack with you to knitting club. Knitting club is for students ages 8-16.

Q: My 9 year old really wants to take a class that says it is for 10 and up. Can I sign her up anyway?
A: Please respect the ages listed on the camp description. We have worked closely with the instructors to design these classes so that every student can be successful. If you have questions, please contact Becka for more information.

Serendipity Sparkles
1:00-4:00
ages 11-14
This class is all about amazing things you can do with beads. First spend some time in the dye lab creating your own hand-dyed wool felt. Then stitch an animal, doll or fantastical creature to embellish. Finally it's all about beads, beads, beads to design embellish, embroider and sparkle. Create something out of this world.

Feed your creative appetite with five days at five art centers. Become a master artist as you learn exciting art-making techniques from professional artists. Each week-long session will follow a different artistic theme. Create a variety of art masterpieces including digital and analog photography; monoprints, drypoints, and relief prints; unique dyes and weavings; books and handmade paper; and wheel-thrown pottery and sculpture. Partners include Minnesota Center for Photography, Highpoint Center for Printmaking, Textile Center, Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and Northern Clay Center.

Poodle Skirt

ages 8-10
First grab some socks and a sewing machine and use them to make goofy and adorable sock dogs. What could be cuter than fuzzy stuffed puppies? A skirt with a pocket for them to ride in! Spend the rest of our week sewing a simple summer skirt with a little pocket for your friend.

Journey to Japan

ages 9-12
Take voyage to discover hand-crafts from Japan. We will learn traditional shibori resist dye patterns on fabrics, learn to make kumihimo braids for bracelets, design a sashiko quilted pillow, make omiyage gift boxes and to top it off, try some "yummy" felted sushi.

Hold This!

Bags, purses, vessles, vases, wallets, cozies, key chains and more! This class is all about things to hold other things. Make a duct tape wallet, learn to sew a zippered bag, create felt key chains, make a lunch bag, stitch a pin cushion! There's something for everybody and you choose your projects. Why not get organized with style?

Cozy Kitchen

Every girl needs a cute apron! Design and sew your own stylish apron and a potholder to match. You will be queen of the kitchen (and never burn another cookie) wearing this sweet kitchen accessory.

Three Ring Circus

ages 8-11
Elephants, jugglers, cotton candy! We have daring dyes with silk scarves in the dye lab and tasty "cotton candy" spun on drop spindles. Do some fancy stitching and juggle your handmade bean bags. For the grand finale, capture wooly felted snapshots of your favorite circus animals. Come one, come all! Slumber Party

Dye your own fabric then learn to use a sewing machine to make your own fantastic pajama pants. We provide the macines and materials. You will learn basic sewing skills, how to read a pattern and customize your pants to fit just the way you like.

Monster Mash

Design and sew your own stuffed monster! Give him snaggly teeth and curly horns or make her sweet and fluffy. Learn to sew, add buttons and sequins and even shaggy hair. Take home a new friend straight from your imagination!

American Graffiti

Sew an embroidered peasant blouse like they wore in the 60s! We will make a cute and comfy top with a ribbon tie and then embroider hearts and flowers for a look that's truly timeless.

Trek through India

ages 11-14
It's a whirlwind tour of textiles from this exotic land. We will batik dye fabric for a pillow, and embroider kashmiri and shisha style flowers and animals on bags with lots of beads and sparkles. Then we'll take time for a few yoga stretches, spin cotton yarns and make felted wool vessels to decorate with beads and bells.

Pajamarama

ages 11-14
Make your own pajama pants from start to finish. Design and dye your own one-of-a-kind fabric the first day. Then learn to use a sewing machine, get tips and tricks for working with patterns, and customize your pants with drawstrings and pockets. At the end of the week, use your time to make matching slippers and a makeup bag.

Knitting Newbies

Forget the needles, we will learn to knit with our fingers! Try finger knitting and spool knitting to make knitted cords that we will turn in to headbands, skinny scarves, belts, and more.

Your Art Smells Terrific

Have fun creating art with herbs. First, stitch a simple eye pillow. Decorate your fabric and then fill it with lavendar and flax.Then create a tiny doll from fresh rosemary, fabrics, fibers and some embroidery. Sweet smells to bring you sweet dreams. Tie-dye your t-shirt and make flower clips for your hair. It's another trip back in time! Spend some time with the rainbow colors of the dye lab then make daisies, pansies, and roses with clips and pins to decorate your hair, bag, or shoes.

Learn to cross stitch! We will learn the basic stitches, try some fun and funky threads and stitch tiny pillows, bookmarks and more. We will even design a few of our own patterns and look at traditions rom other cutures and parts of the world.

Macrame and hairbands, legwarmers and friendship pins! We will time travel to the 70's and 80's for some retro fashion fun! Each day we will accessorize your retro look with what was groovy way back when.

Look out Project Runway! On day one, construct your own mini fashion model. Each following day, you will use real fashion design techniques to sketch and construct a line of mini fashions to fit your model. Rumplestiltskin

Rumplestiltskin could spin straw into gold. We will spin wool into alligators! Starting with all kinds of yarns and fibers, we will learn simple ways to spin them together and make ropes and cords with all kinds of shapes and textures. Then turn your cords into animals and fantastic creatures from your own fairy tale.

Spin Me Around

Day one in the dye lab cooking up all kinds of ways to dye wool and combine it with other fibers - silk sparkles and more! Spend day two spinning your fibers in to yarnds of yarn. Using a drop spindle, you will combine your hand-dyed fibers in to fiberlicious yarn you can use for all kinds of other projects.

Design It & Quilt It

Three fun filled days in the dye lab trying out more fabric design techniques than you can count. Use sun printing, stencils, silkscreens, dyes, batik and more to design your fabric. Then switch gears and spend two days designing and sewing a simple mini quilt showing off your fabulous fabrics.

Cozy Creature Quilts

Make a miniature doll quilt for your favorite teddy bear or cuddly kitty. A simple pattern and our sewing machines are all we need to make a mini quilt start to finish. You choose your colors and we'll jump right in and be busy quilting bees.
