Image Format
Images must be in .jpg format. Please double check to see that your images have the .jpg file extension.

Image Quality
Images must be high resolution. High resolution means that they need to meet the following minimum criteria:
  • Minimum width 1000 pixels
  • Minimum height 1000 pixels
  • Minimum ppi (pixels per inch) is 150 ppi
  • Minimum file size 1 MB
If your image meets or exceeds all of these criteria then it is high enough resolution to meet our requirements.

To check image quality, open your image in a photo editing software like PhotoShop and select "Image Size" from the menu. Check these things:

On a Mac, you can also check the "Get Info" button under the File Menu. This can tell you width, height and file size (but not ppi). This example image is NOT high enough resolution for our purposes.
. .

If your image does not meet the requirements, what should you do?
  • Take new photographs that will meet the requirements. By setting your camera on the highest possible quality settings, you should have no problem meeting the requirements.
  • You can always make an image smaller, you CAN NEVER MAKE an image bigger/better. There is no way to enlarge a photo that was not high enough quality in the first place. If your images are too small, you will need to get new images.

Image Title
The file name for your images should be the TITLE of your piece. For example:
  • SummerSunshine.jpg
  • SummerSunshineDetail.jpg
  • SummerSunshineDetail2.jpg

It is ok to abbreviate your title. "Why is a Raven Like a Writing Desk?" can become "RavenWritingDesk.jpg" Please make it easily recognizable.

Do NOT use:
  • IMG09156.jpg
  • SusanSmith.jpg
  • Smith12.jpg
  • KODAK72883-Smith.jpg

An easy way to change your file names is to open the image and re-save it, typing in the new name. When you look at your CD of images, the list should look something like this:

Submitting Images
  • Your images must be on a CD. We CANNOT accept emailed images.
  • Label your CD with your full name. Example: SUSAN SMITH
  • Please test your CD after you have burned it to make sure that all of the files are there.
