Climate Change
co-sponsored by the Fiber Artists' Study Group
April 18 - May 31, 2008
Opening Reception Friday April 18, 6-8 pm

Climate Change, a mixed media fiber art exhibition, is a strong response to one of the most urgent crises facing our world today: the undeniable and detrimental effects that poor stewardship of our natural resources has wreaked on our planet. The Fiber Artists' Study Group members embraced the inspiration of climate change and a new energy was unleashed. The outstanding result of that challenge is an eclectic but very personal body of work that is sure to induce a passionate reaction from the viewer.

"...we believe art can be a compelling way to visually demonstrate social, political and environmental issues. In fiber art, images and symbols become a powerful tool for raising awareness and increasing consciousness. FASG members hope the art in this exhibition will move those who see it to act in ways that conserve, protect and save our magnificent planet and all of its creatures."

A postcard catalog of selected works from this show is available for sale in the Textile Center Shop and by mail for $15. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this postcard catalog will be donated to the Nature Conservancy.

To order a copy of the postcard catalog, please call 612.436.0464 or print and fax or mail this Postcard Catalog Order Form. (Mail orders will have an additional $1 shipping charge.)

There will be no Artwear in Motion show in 2008. Instead, we are taking some time off to examine the field of Artwear, work with the fashion and wearable art community and find ways to serve the artists who make artwear. If you would like to be a part of this "artwear redesigned" conversation, please contact Carolfaye Meadows, Special Events.
